Another 700r4 question

I have a 700r4 (4L60) in my 69 SWB. The problem I have is that it won't down shift like I want. For example: your doing 50 mph, it's in 4th with lock-up, you slow down to 25 mph for a school zone or small town, than when it's time to speed up your still in 4th with lock-up. It always down shifts when you hit the gas but its annoying as hell. I use the brake switch to control the TC. So, I need better lock up control and I need it to down shift sooner. I do not want to use a toggle as my wife drives this truck and this would confuse her. I think if I were to do this conversion again I would use the 4L60E with the computer. Thanks.
