Hello I am back and needing help.....

OK after the loss of my wrench and soulmate our 1968 3/4ton 4x4 Suburban just sat. Two days ago I put new points and carb on my 292. It is sucking the gas in to the carb but I cannot get her to fire and run. Any advice on things I can try that won't fry my starter or the carb. We did get a nice loud backfire out of her. Please help me get my dream going.

Thanks,
Tat
