what to know about converting to 4x4 using 73+ running gear

i am converting my 71 swb frame to 4x4. what do i need to know to utilize the hardware off of a 73 or newer truck? obviously will have to install the mounting brackets to the frame. will the springs work? are the spring perches on the housings at the correct width or will they need to be removed and reinstalled? will i have an uneven stance front to rear? anything else?

Thanks,
David
