hello there........
I've had this truck for about 18 years, the last 6 or so years it sat in the California desert while I was away in China. I just couldn't part with her. I'm back now so she's getting a bit of attention even though she started right up and I drove her home from her desert storage parking spot.
'62 short bed, step side, straight 6 with three on the tree. I bought it from the original owner, Swartz Glass Company on Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles in the early 90's for $300. I've did a bit of work to get her running initially, the cam was eating the distributor gears, so a new cam was installed and I replaced the cracked cylinder head, I found a fresh rebuilt 848 head for $100 and bolted it on, fresh wood in the bed, a reupholster of the bench seat and a couple rust spots cleaned up. Fast forward to today.....I'm going to do some work on the steering box as she wanders a bit under braking and the steering box has a lot of play..........so I'm going the power steering route. The power drums work pretty well but I'm thinking of discs, at least for the front. When I first bought the truck there wasn't much in the aftermarket world now thankfully there is, so it should be that much easier to upgrade some of the factory stuff. I'm sure I'll have some questions. So here's Rosebud ! |
