72 Door Panel Questions
I'm getting ready to install door panels on my 72, but it's been sitting in my shop without any since I painted it 10 years ago. I other words, I've forgotten a few things about how to put these bad boys on correctly and I'm missing a few parts.
(I grabbed the panels and armrests on ebay out of the midwest almost 5 years ago and I picked up the NOS woodgrain inserts at the Portland Swap Meet this year) I found the correct clips and bought two different sizes of the square foam at my local auto-body shop. Here are my questions: 1. What is the actual dimension of the original foam that adheres to the door? 2. The foam is white, correct? The stuff I got is black, but I guess it will work... 2. Does anyone have a picture of the foam placement? I think it goes in the ridge stamped into the door, but like I said, it's been 10 years. 3. Is there a correct position for the window roller when the window is rolled up? Horizontal pointed towards the front or the back? 4. I have a container with a ton of nuts, bolts, screws, etc. but I don't remember which stainless screw goes on the edge of the panel. Anyone have a pic? Does the screw have the beauty washer or not? Here are some parts I am missing. Everything on my truck is original or NOS (Except the wheels, and some shiny stuff on the 402 of course), so I'm hoping to keep with the trend and locate original versions. 1. I could only find 2 armrest screws. I'd appreciate a lead on 2 more. 2. I found two handles and two window rollers, but I can't find the large plastic washers that go behind them. 3. I don't have any of the clips for the handles and rollers (I can just make some of these I guess). 4. My handles and rollers are in decent shape, but back in the day you could buy these NOS pretty easily. Is that still the case? I wouldn't mind picking up new ones if they can still be found for a reasonable price. I wish a resource like this board was around when I was a kid. Thanks all.
