Rear axle removal

Hey guys, need a little help here. I have my 69' C10 on the jack stands and I'm about to remove the entire rear end off the frame. I've been told to use the spring compressor, I've been told that I don't need one.

I know some of you guys are great in giving step by step process for different tasks. So here I am asking for help for removing my axle. I know it's simple enough and straight forward, but I don't want to overlook anything and get a spring drilled into my noggin.

Thanks,
Brian
