Turn signal switch replacement help

Hi all,

I am currently redoing a 72 blazer and have a question about the turn signal switch. Right now it has one of the cheesy aftermarket giant silver switch that is bolted on the outside of the column. My question is can I take that off and hook up the OEM style? If so do I only need the lever or is there another switch that needs to be installed in the column. If not do I need a new column to get to the OEM look? Thanks
