Trimming upper control arm for WESTERN drop spindles???

Just got around to installing the 2.5" WESTERN drop spindles on my '67 C-10.
I noticed that at full extension (no weight on tires) the top of the spindle contacts the rolled lip of the upper control arm so much that turning is impaired (stopped).
Im not gonna be jumping or turning in mid-air much but it really bugs me that the stock spindles dont do this but the new ones do. i just visualize hitting a pothole while im trying to turn and not being able to steer!

Has anyone else noticed this with WESTERN spindles? did you just grind some clearance off the lip of the control arm?

many thanks!
