Anybody use a stock differential?
I have been searching, but may have missed the proper keywords, or just plain skipped over a previous thread:
I've got a 1947 Chevy 3/4 ton. I'm switching out the broken 6 to a V8 and updated transmission. Nothing crazy- probably somewhere in the 200 hp range. Other than that, I'd "like" to keep most of the truck stock for now. I've read about a million other threads for switching out the rearend. I understand why people do this, but it's not for me at this point. This is a 10 bolt rear, with 8 lug wheels. Anybody have tips or sources for upgrading the original rear end? Does it need anything other than bearing/seals/fluid to be up to the challenge for a while? Any idea if the old ones are single or posi drive? Probable gear ratio? Thanks! |
