67 steering stops opposed to the 74's

tried to locate the point of reference where this was said but my replacement 74 suspension/cradle does not have the better turning radius as the 67 its going in so should i change the stops? no problem with the ability to do that here as much as will it do what i want? it was said that the stops can be "trimmed" on the 74 but w/o a better discription ????? im now concerned about "oversteering" ,for lack of a better description, and damaging some component. thanks all
