69 GMC lwb to swb
Hey this is my first thread on this forum!!!
Anyways I decided to start a thread on the restoration of my truck for the following reasons: 1. This truck will be my resume, once finished I will use it to sell myself (like a whore does) to customers. Hopefully I can work for myself after a few years time. 2. This thread will serve as easy access to my resume for customers to few for themselves. As an added bonus it will have comments from forum members saying how good or bad of a job I am doing, so I won't be able to hide anything. 3. And finally it will serve as documentation of the process. My goal with this truck is to produce a final product that is of show quality, something a customer would be happy to pay for and not feel ripped off or disappointed in the quality of the workmanship. With that being said I am doing each and every part of this restoration. Nothing will be sublet out. Also as an added obstacle I will be working on this truck under a metal shed. So needless to say winters are fun. So about the truck, the truck was purchased new in 69 by my grandpa from his GMC/Farm equipment business. It was his personal truck. In 84 he had it painted to the scheme you see in the pics. He passed a week before it was finished. Then it served as a shop truck. Then my mom drove it through college and I drove it all through high school. Then it sat from about 01 till May of 10 when I dragged it out of the weeds and started working on it. The end result of the truck will be painted back to the original poly turquoise, with the original saddle interior, no body mods (ex. the bed), from lwb to swb, lowered 4/front 6/rear, stock wheels with hubcaps, and a 5.3/4l65e from an 00 chevy truck. So to the pics. I will comment on all the pics to catch the reader up. Other then that I will avoid commenting and let forum users do all the commenting. So please speak your mind and hold nothing back. Peace. |
