Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Started on the gas tank install.
Earlier when I was mocking up the bed, I noticed I would need to lower the gas tank one inch in the front. I wasn't sure how to accomplish this until I started in on it tonight. I went out to another parts truck and cut the strap bracket off and welded it to the bottom of my existing one. A little paint later and one side is taken care of. The other side bolts the strap to the frame. I couldn't find a bolt long enough to extend an extra inch so I cut the head off, cranked the heat up on the welder, and welded a 1 inch bolt to it. Having a welder can make anybody a genius. I used a 1.5 inch thick rubber body biscuit as a spacer between the gas tank and the frame and a half inch rubber spacer on the side of the frame to get the gas tank off of my rearmost cab mount. Still have room for my filler neck to clear the frame rail. Whew !
