Help with transmission

I need help deciding on a transmission for my LQ4/9 swap. I am going to abandon the idea of a mostly strip truck to more of a street truck that I can drive to and from the strip but still lay down some decent times. I am turning my 85 into a 73(Cab, front end. Need cab for the title) and also swapping in either a LQ4 or 9 depending on what I find. The motor will have a custom spec cam, intake, tb, and other bolt-ons to help w/performance. I have a th350 but that will hurt gas mileage. I want to have a transmission built to hold 500-600 ft/lbs even though I probably won't make that much. I want to have it built right and be able to handle the abuse of the strip with drag radials but still provide decent street manners. Is the 4l80e the only/best option? Who do you reccomend for building/rebuilding one? Who makes a good torque converter?
