Harmonic balancer shim??

There was a question about this a few days ago and it got me thinking. My balancer pulleys are recessed about 1/8th inch further back than all the rest, and I'm wondering if there is a down side to shimming it out. I'm not talking about washers or anything, I'm thinking about fabricating a shim out of aluminum that's the same size as the pulley base with the appropriate holes drilled in it.

What do you guys think? would I have any problems with vibration or throwing the rotating assembly out of balance?
