Round peg in a square hole

I just got my cam and I was running through some pre-assembly steps before I build my LS2. When I went to put the timing sprocket on the cam it wouldn't fit. The dowel is round and the hole(for lack of better terms) is oblong. The cam is for an LS2 and the timing set is for an LS2, so wth? Anyone know why this would be the case? Do I drill it out or buy another timing set?
