EUREKA! Buddy Bucket Score with Factory Shoulder Retainers!
I went on a parts hunt today and scored a set of Buddy Buckets from a loaded 68 GMC Custom Camper truck. I noticed that the seat cover pattern is different from the Chevy CST seats...this is the first set of GMC's I have come across. Also, it had Factory Shoulder Belts listed on the SPID (A 50) and the pillars were scratched showing they had been present at one time ...BUT the retainers were still present on the console! This topic has come up for discussion recently, and it was questioned whether or not an "additional" bracket was added to the retainers...these look factory to me, judging that they have the same wear/tear and surface rust as the rest of the mounting hardware on the seats and frame. The factory assembly manual shows the retainers mounted to the frame...but when I mocked up the NOS set of retainers I have to the frame, it was not practical at all. ALSO, this set of original retainers mounted to the console have the centers cut out, replicating the male end of the seatbelt, and the female buckles "click" into place and are solid...as opposed to the NOS mounts I have where the center is not cut out, and the buckles do not "click" into place.
