Polyurethane Bushing Question

I'm replacing my rear control arm bushings with polyurethane bushings. The photo below shows the bushings but they came two slide washers that cap over the skinny end.

I've got the bushing in but noticed that even with the bushing pressed all the way in, it's too wide to squeeze back into the mount with the slide washer on. Should I try triming down the slide washers or just not use them?

Thanks.
