this may end up in shop safety but I think here is a good idea to begin.

it appears some "mechanics" were draining gas from a car into 5 gallon buckets prior to fuel pump replacement. I'm guessing they didn't have them grounded properly (put it on the floor at least).

all it takes is one little spark.

this is why we use a metal 30 gallon barrel and have a wire alligator clipped between it and the car. we also have a seperate battery mounted at least 2 feet above the barrel to run the pump.
