Cam shaft

i am thinking about putting a cam shaft in my 350 short block in a 1970 k-5 blazer this is going to be a restored truck that i will play with in the mud sometimes it has 4 wheel drive. Does anybody have any advise on weather i should do this or not some people say it is good and others say it is bad i got a eldebrock intake and a rochester quadrajet carbarator but think of going with a holley. Does anybody have any experience with this and if so what kind of cam do you think i should use?
