Ball Joints and Tie Rods

Hey I just rebuilt my front suspension which I've never done before. New upper and lower a-arm bushings, ball joints, in/out tie rods, steering link, pitman, all the joints have grease fittings. How much grease do I use? When I squeeze the trigger of the grease gun grease starts to back out of the fitting but the rubber dust boot is still flat, should the joints be loose and should i raise the truck off the ground? I dont want to drive it to alignment without lubeing the fittings. Oh its a 62 with 78 front susp. Thanks, Tony
