11 inch front disc brakes

I was curious to hear any info from people using the 11 inch front brake kits using chevelle rotors and camaro calipers or similar. I was thinking about doing this to my truck but the down size of about an inch on the rotors makes me a little cautious. I wont be using my truck really as a truck but more of a street strip toy. Any input on how it works compared to the stock 70 drums would be greatly appreciated.
