The 8.1L is dimensionally the same as any other big block but the cast aluminum oil pan is much bigger than any other big block and WILL definitely interfere with the stock engine cross-member. I used an ORD high clearance oil pan and spaced up the engine mounts with a piece of plate steel.

Even with the ORD HD cross-member I felt the need to space the engine mounts upward a tad more to give just a bit more wiggle room.


After spacing. The picture view gives the illusion it is almost touching but in reality you can stick your finger between the oil pan and cross-member. I have been running it like this for two years and a lot of off-roading with no issues or signs of rubbing.
