Re: Annabelle's transformation 85 C10 project
75 ChevyGuy,
I only use duplicolor products...I've tried about everything out there and in my opinion, they are the best... My process...take whatever you are going to paint and scrub it good (stiff plastic brush) with plenty of any brand grease fighting dishsoap...wash it off and let it dry... then take Dups. grease and wax remover and wipe down everything that you are going to paint (I let it sit for about 2 minutes), then wipe off the excess with a soft, lint-free cloth and let it thouroughly dry...oh yea, use the brush again, especially in grooves and crevices!!!! then take Dups. Adhesion Promoter and follow the directions - the key is multiple light even coats...then take the color of choice of Dups Vinyl and Fabric paint (again, follow directions), multiple, light coats (timing between is usually 3-4 minutes and you want the previous coat to be slightly tacky when you put the next one on)...the optimum temp is around 70 degrees with little moisture in the air... after it is dry to the touch I usually put it in my bathroom with a space heater (not directly on the part - just to get the room good and warm) and let it cook for several hours...I usually wait about 24 hours before re-install... ****if you are going Black (again, MY opinion), go with the flat black...it has a slight sheen and looks great...the shiny black is way too shiny...worse than armor all... I am doing the dash today and will document with pics...hope this helped and please hit me up with any questions.... |
