I suck at drawing but I can try to draw up what I was talking about. You could make it out of metal if you have the skills and tools...which I sure don't. MDF and FG is pretty easy and forgiving to work with...just itchy...really itchy.
I helped design a few show car interiors that were heavily customized to the point where whole dash boards, door panels, and consoles were made. I didn't do any of the fab work on them though, I just did the brainstorming and idea creation portion of it. I gave my chicken scratch drawings, list of ideas, and explanations to my buddy who's a bit of an artist to do the rendering for me. if you want me to shoot me a PM or post up the dimensions you're working with. Firewall to back of cab, between seats/brackets(whichever is wider), where your shifter is located, max height (i.e. where your arm rests).
