Starter Problem

I have owned my blazer 350/350 4wd since 1981 from the moment I got it it chewed up starters. twice I had to get flywheels put in it. The last time I had a flywheel put in it. The transmission shop said we will put a new gm starter on and fix your problem. For over 10yrs that starter worked great. It finally died. I went and got a rebuild from advanced. put the same shim in the tranny shop had on the old one. Nothing but problems. Shimmed it everyway you could think of. Order a High perforamnce mini. Now I get nothing it just clicks. Both starters will work on my other truck as does the battery. What is wrong. Ignition switch or a short. I don't really know where to look.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated
