need help with my 1947 gmc tipper

hi,

I have recently purchased a 1947 gmc tipper in the uk, its done 58,000 miles and runs sweet,
I am looking at lowering it and putting a set of 17"/18" alloys on it, its on leaf springs all round.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me as I am new to the american truck scene.

many thanks

sarg.
