Swapping an indash AMP meter to an indash VOLT meter

I got a 74 model truck that came with an AMP meter in the dash.I'm rebuild the dash and wiring. Can I swap a factory Volt meter in place of the AMP meter. I'm installing a GM serpentine system that comes with a 100 amp CS style alternator which is way to much for the old AMp meter.
Thanks
