truck wont start help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

at the sellers house it started up fine, with the help of a jump. as soon as i got it home to start it up, it wouldnt. So then i put my jumper cables on it and then the wires started to smoke and bubble up( the ones on the battery). now nothing happens when i turn the key.any ideas what i can check or look for??
also i thought black was negitive???

also heres the one of the wires that bubbled. i replaced one that was terrible but it didnt do anytihng

anybody have any idea?? i dont know where to start
