I'm brand new here guys... Help!

Ok, Let me explain before I start asking... (you guys are going to get tired of hearing me before it's over) ...I just bought a 70 gmc shortbed stepside with rust in the rockers, floor pans, and a little in the bed but not terrible anywhere. I picked it up for $1100 and it runs... Thats about all I'll brag about. It's a decent looking 307, no power steering, and manual drums of course. The body is fair but far from perfect, It would make a great rat rod project but I don't want to completely trash it. My first question is--- Is this project even worthwhile? I want 4 wheel power disc and power steering. I want to lower it with a clean set of wheels. I want to primer it brown and drive the piss out of it... All that sounded cheap and easy but the brake kits are much higher than I thought. I have some drop spindles and parts from a 2000 2wd suburban, can I make these work? and lastly, if not... please tell me the best efficient way of lowering, disc braking, and power steering my truck. If it is even worthwhile. (I'd like to keep it 6 Lug)
