Steering Coumn mate up

HI folks,

I got the steering wheel and column back from the painter last week. I will try to mount it up Saturday. I added Power steering to the truck by using the CPP adaptor and a new P/S pump and gear box from a later model chevy (like others have). I now need to figure out how to measure and cut the steering column rod that goes into the CPP shaft. I've read where you are suppose to have a really great weld on it but the new CPP shaft is built with a "D" notch (I'm gong to try to weld it in at least a few spots but would like to hook up with some one who has done this before for some help.
