The one thing I didn't touch in my build went boom!
The rearend! I hit the road yesterday following a friend in a laid out 95 silverado. We were headed to the Tex Mex car show. Around 80 miles out I hear howling that turned to crunching, a puff of smoke then I stopped moving. Out in the middle of Texas country on hwy 290. I look under the truck and see the drive shaft turning and gear oil splattered everywhere..damn.
A nice farmer stopped to help and later pulled me into his yard. I sat there for 6 hrs waiting for friends with a car hauler to come get me. The rearend was the only thing I failed to touch during my frame off build. Ironically I was looking at an Eaton unit just last week. Oh well, looks like that posi unit will come sooner than expected. It's nice to live in a state where hospitality and the 'help thy neighbor' attitude still means something. I had 3 three stop to ask if I needed help. My neighbor in Austin borrowed a truck then rented a car hauler from Uhaul to drive 90 miles to get me. The farmer bought me lunch and sat with me for 6 hrs. Thank God for good people!
