My 83 Z28
Just thought I would share a pic of my latest toy. It's a 305 with a 5spd T-top car. The PO installed the rear end from an 85 IROC so now it has posi and rear disk brakes, and he installed most of the interior from the IROC too. The clutch linkage is messed up and the tranny doesn't shift as good as I like it. It's driveable but I think I'm going to replace the tranny...I have a spare in my shop. The only other real issue is the t-tops leak but I can fix that with new seals eventually. I'm trying to decide on what to do about the clutch linkage. It's the last year before hydraulic and my z bar is messed up...one of the arms was rewelded and I have to fix that...things just don't line up right. I want to buy a new z bar but I can't seem to find one at all...I checked ebay and craigslist. I thought about setting up an aftermarket hydraulic throwout bearing and adapting a mastercylinder to my stock pedals. Has anyone done this??? The PO also has the 700R4 with the drive shaft from the IROC that I'm going to buy...just not sure if I'm going to use it on the camaro or another project. When I get ready to fix the linkage, I want to replace the clutch too. Is there one out there that doesn't require a lot of pedal force...a friend of mine was telling me about them but I can't remember what brands were suggested. All I remember is that they are kinda pricey. Right now my goal is to get it reliable. Any thoughts/help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
