Got to do some work today on my 1967 GMC

I'm doing a 5 lug disc/drum suspension swap on my 1967 GMC 3/4 ton with a 1974 Chevy 1/2 ton truck and I'm doing a 4/6 drop also. I got my 3.40 1974 Chevy 1/2 rearend set in today. I was told it would fit so that I didn't have to move my leaf spring perches. It truely does bolt right up to the leafs without any modifications to the perches. I do need to relocate the shock mounts on the rearend though. I cutoff my shock mounts on the rearend today. I don't have my flip kit yet, probably get it next week. Along with new gear oil, drum hardware, wheel cylinders and drum shoes for it. I have never did a flip kit before, should I wait to weld my shock mounts after I get my flip kit installed? Also I have seven leafs on my leaf spring pack, how many should I remove to achieve a 6 inch drop in the back or will just the flip kit alone drop it 6 inches?
