Okay.....let me explain. I recently got in one of the more rare Holley GM muscle car carburetors (If you must know, it's a list 3247 '66 CORVETTE 425hp 427 carb). The fact that the guy that listed it on ebay and had know idea what it was is irrelevant.
The fact that I paid $45 SHIPPED is also irrelevant.
The fact that it is worth hundreds of dollars in unrestored condition is further irrelevance!
Now that I am done boasting, here is the issue. The carb is 100% correct except it doesn't have the vented front bowl. It's only 2 more machining steps that Holley did to their stock center hung 4160/4160 bowls. I can buy them pretty cheap new but it will look very odd on a 45 year old carb. I drilled the 2 necessary holes and tapped the one, so that part is done. Now I have two super bright and shiny holes in a very old bowl and I need to figure out how to dull up the 2 holes so they look like old metal. What can I use to really dull up the shiny part the new holes made? Thanks!
