Putting plugs in a 5.3

This is the first time Ive ever worked on an alum head(surprising seeing how many engines Ive built)
Im a little worried about damaging the head since I have no idea if I can trust that the old owner put anti seize on the plugs or not...could it help any if I sprayed some pb blaster on the plugs and let it sit for a little bit before giving it a shot??

Or should I just make sure its cold and cross my fingers?

Sorry, I know this is a stupid question to most of you.
