Black Iron Pipe?

I'm trying to figure out how to mount my top bag mounts and I saw some black iron pipe at HD that would seem to do well. Can anyone tell me if this stuff is strong enough to put into a suspension?? If anyone has any other advise about some type of strong pipe, I'm all ears. I have a step notch that I now need to mount some bag brackets off of, need to use circular pipe that is strong. Thanks.
