aftermarket steering column

Got an Ididit column for a good deal, now I need to get it in the truck. I have a 3 1/2 inch drop column support. Anybody have good info on the "through the floor" set up? I am considering getting some sheet metal and cuting to fit the original area then using the flaming river column mount (floor) with ball type area where it passes through the fire wall. However, I have not done this before....anyone with advice...?
