converting my 68 to 4wd.

Just curious if anybody has thoughts and opinions on this plan. I have an 86 chevy 1/2 ton that is 4wd with a fourspeed and fairly high gearing. my 68 is 2wd with a granny fourspeed and no power steering with drum brakes obviously. I would like to convert everything from the 86 to the 68 so that my 68 has front disk brakes, power steering and four wheel drive with the higher gearing that the 86 has. the 86 has a lower mileage 305 in it, and I suppose i will try to keep everything together and do a complete swap although I would prefer to keep my 350 that I have in the 68 currently. is this a fail plan? I have done a few motor swaps and some smaller projects, but I have never went to battle with anything like this. I hope this makes sense.
