Power Brake Issue

I bought a 55 3100 series body on a 1980 Chevy pickup frame. Everything works good on the truck but the brakes have an issue. I've done a lot of brake systems in my time so I completely rebuilt the brakes and I have a good solid pedal, but the pedal from the 1980 setup only has about 3 inches of travel before it hits the floor. Because of this I'm not getting the full stopping power from the brakes. The pedal needs to be moved out about 2-3 inches. I've thought about cutting the pedal and rewelding it in a position that gets it higher off the floor or a longer rod form the pedal to the booster. Haven't fully though on the last one yet so I'm not sure if that would work. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
