So i'm driving my wifes 2000 Ford F250 Diesel
to work at 5am and this punk kid won't let me in the left lane. He keeps speeding his Honda up and then slowing down to block me for no reason that I can think of. My street on the left is coming up, it's still dark out so I figure what the heck and I stomp the 4 by 4's pedal to the floor and the turbo kicks in. Sawed his doors completely off and I have this wide smile on my face as I return my eyes to the road from the rearview mirror only to lock eyes with a cop going the other way. I check my speedo - 79 in a 45. He slams on the brakes and begins a powerslide turn to get behind me, I am watching this now in the rearview and right when his car was perpendicular to the road in its slide I turn left, stop fast and shut it down dark. (I figure I can just tell him I was waiting for him since I was obviously breaking the law.) Now this road has no houses or businesses on it but still, 79, I couldn't believe it! He flies by at about 90 and doesn't even see me. My heart is thumping so I wait for a couple of minutes and then drive the rest of the way to work. Unbelievable. I am 40 for crying out loud. So I tell my wife and she says, you should have just taken the lane, its a big truck, he would have moved.
The whole episode taught me a couple of lessons. 1. Never underestimate the 16 year old in you coming out at the strangest times. 2. Turbo-Diesels are no joke. I would love one in a 67-72. Chevy even has the Allison transmission now which is what the Ford's main problem in their trucks have been, the tranny's Anyway, thought I would share.
