Header and exhaust kit for a new roller 383

Guys,

I just replace the 350 in my dad's 69 C-10 2WD with a 383 stroker. I ended up using the stock exhaust manifolds with the old set of glasspacks to get it running and drivable. The truck has a mild 2/4 drop springs on it and I dont plan on laying it all the way down any time soon.

I'm ready to install the performance exhaust and I wanted to get some advice from the gurus on the board.

At a minimum, I want something thermal coated, at least 1 5/8" primary tubes and a set of full flow mufflers. After that I am wide open to what works, fits best and is cost effective.

I'm leaning toward a set of Hedman Elite 1 5/8 x 30" with 3" collectors, a 2.5" aluminized steel pipes, crossover, dual flowmaster 50-series, and side tips before the rear tires.

I've seen the Magnaflow kit - header back, x pipe, dual magnaflow mufflers and pipes - $579. Or a few other kits that dont include the mufflers in the $250 range. I could just take it to the local Minute muffler and have them fab something up... but I'm thinking with headers, pipes, mufflers, tips and install, I'm looking at $1000.

What are you 383 guys running?

Does the cross over kit make much performance or sound difference?

Where are you putting your cross-over - above the drive shaft, below it or ??

If you guys have pictures - please send them along too...

Thanks for the help!

Paul
1969 C-10 - 383, 700R4, 3.73 posi, still looks like a plain jane, but runs pretty well.
