How much to shorten drive shaft?

What should I pay to shorten drive shaft (in california)? My last one on my 65 was $250. Was a 2 piece shaft, u-joint in middle and one on each end. Used old u-joints, I supplied new yoke. Seemed pretty high, maybe I am out of touch?
