Re: Duramax "Lynchpins"?

I am interested in all postings on these diesels. I have the interest to own one purely for daily driver and occasional camper towing.
The dodge cummins and ford strokes are just plain way too noisey. I wouldn't have one of those thrashing machines. The dmax is smooth and quiet.
I don't like the higher cost of fuel vs gas and the dmax mpg won't necessarily offset the cost. Well ok maybe the towing comfort might be worth it. The diesel mpg runs about the same as the gassers.
What really has me on the fence is the repair costs of them. Fuel pumps, injectors, etc can get real costly and for someone accustomed to running a gasser and normally only concerned with a fuel pump or trans failure the diesel repair costs can be a real shock.
