Unknown set-up - towing Ok?

All I know is that the 350 & th350 in my 71 were rebuilt 10 years ago. It's got an aftermarket carb, intake, and a shift kit. I'm guessing the cam was changed based on the idle, but I can't prove that one way or the other, nor do I have the knowledge to say that with any certainty. The truck is definetly set up for performance, though. It's pretty freaking fast and has a good amount of get-up-and-go.

At this point, the bumper in the back is crome, but I'm thinking of putting a towing mumber on the back until I stop using it as my utility vehicle at home. I'm not looking to tow a big boat or anything major, just small trailors or whatever else comes along.

Is it safe to do so without knowing the make up of the motor?
