dual exhaust/ headers?

I have a stock 350 with quadrajet. I plan on doing dual exhaust sometime soon. I passed inspection, so I could save up my pennys for headers, but if I'm not changing anything else yet is it worth it? I have the stock rams horns now.
I really don't want to cut things to get them in either. Anybody have experience with ones that fit in a 71 C10?
Later on, I plan to get a mild cam and a set of heads, but because the exhaust is rusty now, it gets the money first.
