Help, want to go from 3 on column to sm465 4 speed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I need to know what all needs to be changed in my 1971 chevy c10 with a 250 ,6cyl and saginaw or muncie 3 speed column shift to a sm465 granny 4 speed ? I really need a lower 1st gear in these tennessee hills when i,am hauling or towing when pulling out also a lower reverse. I have a floor shift column and the trans with shifter along with a floor shift trans cover. What else do i need ? All help is appreciated.
