Why stop with lying about the garage? Do you say your 55 years old, live in a gated community, drive your car only 500 miles a year, have a car alarm, etc, etc? Maybe your car is a piece of crap and you lie about a high value in case its stolen. If your okay with lying, you might as well not do it half ass. You want to get the cheapest rate possible right? People complain about high rates, but deceptive car owners are part of the problem.
Playing the victim to high insurance rates doesnt justify lying about your vehicle or its storage. I would also show the police a little more respect. You may not like them and they may not like you, but they'll risk their lives to help you whether you want it or not. Nobody likes the copers until you need one. Probably a discussion for another a thread though.
