A/T Cooling 4L60E

Here's the situation. I have a 4l60E and need the A/T lines that run to the radiator. The radiator is out of a 67' Mustang. I've been having trouble figuring out the thread size on the radiator. I found a bolt that fit it and took it to Lowe's and it fit in the 3/8-24 slot. I bought a universal kit from inlinetube and its so universal that it doesn't work on anything. ha. It has 5/16" tubing(to small for the tranny and too large for the radiator). The lines from the tranny were 3/8" with 1/4" threads.

So here's the question(s):
1. How do I run the lines? Braided hose, steel lines and bend them?

2.What fittings would work best?(This is my main question)

3. Would I be better off just running the lines from the transmission to an external transmission cooler? and if so, would a heat sink cooler work, because I don't have room up front for another tube/fin type cooler? Or can you mount a tube/fin on the frame like the heat sink coolers?
