Cancelling cam-Good idea?

I finally got sick of my blinkers not turning off by themselves. I bought one of those new cancelling cams from the Help stand at the parts store. Avoid these, BTW-more on this later.

Anyway, when I got things apart, I saw that the PO had tried to fix the broken cam, where they always break right where the blinker lever attaches. See the little wire he ran through it-but he did something else that seemed like a good idea-if it was done before the thing breaks. A little re-enforcement tab:

Now, back to the cam kit I bought. I carefully put it all back together and discovered this problem-the lever is at the wrong angle:

ARGGG!!!

So I had to rob the best cam out of my parts stash. It's still cracked a little, but I put it back together including the little re-inforcement tab, and the thing works great:

Just thought I'd share.
