New mirrors on 'Ol Green
New mirrors finally made it to the top of the list today. My mirrors have been lousy since I bought this truck. I like the style of the old ones, you know, for a working truck, but I couldn't find any like them. The driver's side wasn't toooo bad, but the other side was all wang chung, with big patches where the silver had gone bad and the mounts couldn't be tightened anymore without breaking, and the thing was still loose so it never would stay in adjustment. It looks way better in the picture than it really was.
So I ended up with these. They were cheap and they fit the bill. I put a convex on the right side to get rid of the blind spot. It sure is nice being able to see behind me for a change. While I was at it, I removed the original stock mirror mount-that's all that was left of it, and more for practice than anything else I welded up the holes and the holes from the mirrors that were on it. I sanded off a little bit of rust on the right side door, too, just to see how it would come out. It worked out well, I think, for a rookie.
